Castello Meleto is a fairy tale castle in the heart of Chianti. The Castle was originally a Florentine fortification against Siena. This fortress belonged to the noble family Ricasoli and in 1968 the Ricasoli family sold Meleto Castle and the surrounding estate, which covered around 1,100 hectares, to the Società Viticola Toscana.
In the middle of the farm, high up on the hill, the fortress seems to guard over all the estate.

The estate comprises six apartments, some of which are directly attached to the wall of the castle or fortress, and which have been restored since summer 1998.   They were converted from original farm buildings.

Each apartment has a terrace or garden for relaxing in the open air and easy access to the swimming pool. The swimming pool is located close to the appartments.

Accommodation
This appartment is directly attached to the south-west wall. It has a living-room with a kitchen and a spacious double bedroom. In the living-room there are two sofa beds, satellite TV.

Outside each living-room there is a sunny terrace and the pool is only 60 metres away.

Activities
Wine and farm products are available for tasting every day in the wine bar. Guided tours are offered to the castle and the ancient cellars.

Meleto is in Gaiole in Chianti, about 1 km from the village. In Gaiole and in the small villages nearby there are several pizzerias and restaurants of every level and price category.

Meleto is very centrally located for day excursions to Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, Arezzo, Perugia, Montalcino, Montepulciano, Chianciano, Bagni Vignoni, Pitigliano, and Saturnia.

From Meleto it is possible to go for pleasant walks or bicycle trips in the countryside. For trips further a field, we recommend a car.
